COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Rocky Mountain Vibes (12-2) fell to the Yuba-Sutter High Wheelers (10-5) in the knockout round after a back-and-forth contest that included three lead changes with it being tied twice.
Six Vibes batters recorded multi-hit performances including shortstop Garrett Kueber's clutch 3-for-5 line which ended with a leadoff single to start the bottom-of-the-ninth-comeback. Kueber scored the tying run, as well. Catcher Austin Chouinard brought him home on a base hit.
Chouinard marked Rocky Mountain's first entry to the knockout round, surging to tie Yuba-Sutter catcher Cuba Bess at two. The High Wheelers wheeled out designated hitter River Orsak for one dinger in the second round, and that proved to be enough, besting Vibes first baseman Will Butcher.
No pitcher gets credited with a decision in a game that heads to the knockout round. Starter Malik Binns dealt five innings, letting up five runs on nine hits with four strikeouts. LHP Caleb Strack highlighted the bullpen, dealing two shutout frames to cap the events including five strikeouts.
Game Four between Yuba-Sutter and Rocky Mountain is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, and the Vibes rebrand to the Lloronas for the first time in 2025. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and a fireworks show follows the action.
