COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The Rocky Mountain Vibes (19-9) played infallible baseball on both sides of the game in their 14-3 win over the Grand Junction Jackalopes (11-17) on Saturday night.
Every piece of the Rocky Mountain machine worked to perfection with 17 hits as an offense, 10 strikeouts as a defense, and also only two walks allowed total.
At the plate, consecutive innings with back-to-back-to-back hits leading off the frame kicked off the home half of the game. Center fielder Carter Booth went 2-for-6 with a two-run double. Left fielder Sam Linscott followed up with a 2-for-4 night including his team-leading sixth home run of the year and three RBIs as a whole. Right fielder Kellum Clark returned after two and a half weeks on the injured list with a 4-for-5 line, adding in an RBI. Catcher Austin Chouinard picked up his third three-hit performance with two doubles and four RBIs. Every Vibes batter reached base on the way to the victory.
RMV kept it simple on the bump. Starter Nick Powers nabbed his third win of the year through six innings, three runs on six hits, zero walks, and five strikeouts. Vibes fans saw RHP Evan Kowalski for the first time since leaving Boise at the beginning of June; the reliever impressed with a three-inning save, tossing shutout baseball, allowing two hits with two walks on five strikeouts.
